The Barman needs to undertake the responsibility of directing all aspects of bar services, catering to the guests' needs, delivering high quality service to meet and even exceed guests' expectations and maintaining the stock of bar.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mise-en-place and replenishment of :

-          Bar small equipment

-          Glassware, flatware, and chinaware

-          Bar utensils

-          Fruits

-          Drink items

-          Coffee, etc.

  • Application of established standard operating procedures.
  • Follow the correct usage of equipment.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness.
  • Control the breakage.
  • Assist the Bar Manager in communicating:

-          New management policies

-          Changes in procedures

-          Standards

-          Any other information pertaining to Bar services.

  • Be a team-member on the job training and orientation.
  • Establish and maintain effective employee relations.
  • Co-operate with team-members and provide practical support.
  • Participate in the preparation, presentation and service of all beverage products to ensure the highest quality at all times.
  • Control of wastage and spoilage.
  • Control of losses.
  • Assist the Bar supervisors in the running of promotions and general sales.
  • Ensure that all required items are readily available for use.
  • Monitor and control the cleanliness and state of fixtures, furniture and equipment and small operating equipment.
  • Monitor and control all operating equipment with regards to quality, quantity and proper functioning thereof.
  • Ensure that all cocktails are served as per standard.
  • Deal with disagreements and conflicts in a constructive and helpful manner.
  • Prepare Requisition Form.
  • Assure proper rotation of stock.
  • Ensure that all drinks are available at all times.
  • Be a real showman.
  • Ensure efficient recording, collecting and charging of all consumption within the Bar during the shift and cash-up after each service period.
  • Ensure a good appearance and high personal hygiene of yourself and ensure all waiters maintain good appearance too.
  • To have knowledge of selling techniques and to use them to ensure the highest possible revenue from guests.
  • To maximise sales of food and beverage and control over costs during each shift.
  • Any other duties assigned by your superior from time to time.
